Det var en del av ett friluftscenter vid foten av \u00f6stra USA:s h\u00f6gsta berg, Mt Washington. M\u00e5nga m\u00e4nniskor kom f\u00f6r att vandra i bergen p\u00e5 sommaren, se p\u00e5 l\u00f6ven p\u00e5 h\u00f6sten och \u00e5ka skidor p\u00e5 vintern.<\/p>\n<p>Och \u00e4ta, f\u00f6rst\u00e5s. All frisk luft och all motion gjorde att g\u00e4sterna var vr\u00e5lhungriga p\u00e5 kv\u00e4llarna. D\u00e4r stod vi i k\u00f6ket och hackade l\u00f6k och mor\u00f6tter till soppan, bakade br\u00f6d och diskade. Allt under ledning av kockarna Dick och Dave. De i personalstyrkan som var proprast kl\u00e4dda f\u00f6r kv\u00e4llen fick servera.<\/p>\n<p>En eftermiddag kommer jag hem fr\u00e5n en l\u00e5ng hajk. Det \u00e4r dags att kasta sig in i k\u00f6ket f\u00f6r kv\u00e4llens tj\u00e4nstg\u00f6ring.<\/p>\n<p>Jag tittar in och ser en desperat kock med chokladsmet \u00f6ver hela k\u00f6ket. Han har f\u00f6rs\u00f6kt baka en kaka efter ett recept anpassat f\u00f6r h\u00f6g h\u00f6jd, och det st\u00e4mde tydligen inte med den h\u00f6jd vi befinner oss p\u00e5 h\u00e4r p\u00e5 &#8217;base camp&#8217;. Kakan har j\u00e4st \u00f6ver alla br\u00e4ddar och kletat ner k\u00f6ket \u2013 och snart kommer g\u00e4sterna. Ingen dessert finns f\u00e4rdig. Tiden \u00e4r knapp.<\/p>\n<p>&#8217;Help me! Fort, Martina, baka dina Swedish cookies!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e5 medan han sanerar i k\u00f6ket s\u00e5 gott det g\u00e5r och de andra serverar soppa och varmr\u00e4tt sl\u00e4nger jag ihop vanliga enkla kolakakor.<\/p>\n<p>De vinner stor uppskattning som exotisk dessert bland de s\u00f6tsugna g\u00e4sterna.<\/p>\n<p>Fr\u00e5n stork\u00f6ket i New Hampshire fick jag med mig ett oslagbart kakrecept som kocken ofta bakade i k\u00f6ket (n\u00e4r det inte var panik), och nu anv\u00e4nder vi det g\u00e4rna h\u00e4r hemma. Det \u00e4r egentligen inte sv\u00e5rare \u00e4n kolakakor, men det \u00e4r fler saker som ska i smeten, och man f\u00e5r rulla varje kaka till en boll och platta till, s\u00e5 lite l\u00e4ngre tid tar det allt. Och det \u00e4r v\u00e4rt varenda minut, jag lovar \u2026 Dessutom \u00e4r smeten farligt god med sin kryddiga smak och alla russin!<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f6r dem sm\u00e5, till kaffe, eller stora och blaffiga s\u00e5 att de g\u00e5r att l\u00e4gga ihop tv\u00e5 och tv\u00e5 med vaniljglass emellan. Riktigt smaskigt och amerikanskt!&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>antal beroende p\u00e5 storlek<br \/>\nUgn: 175\u00ba, 10\u201312 minuter<\/p>\n<p>150 g sm\u00f6r<br \/>\n3\u00bd dl farinsocker<br \/>\n2 \u00e4gg<br \/>\n1 tsk vaniljsocker<br \/>\n3\u00bd dl mj\u00f6l, g\u00e4rna lite grovt<br \/>\n5\u00bd dl havregryn<br \/>\n2 tsk bakpulver<br \/>\n1 tsk salt<br \/>\n1 tsk malen kanel<br \/>\n\u00bd tsk malen muskotn\u00f6t<br \/>\n3\u00bd dl russin<br \/>\nn\u00f6tter om man vill<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e4tt ugnen p\u00e5 175 grader. Vispa ihop sm\u00f6r och socker. Blanda ner \u00e4gg och vaniljsocker och forts\u00e4tt med mj\u00f6l, havregryn och kryddor. Tills\u00e4tt till sist russin och eventuellt n\u00f6tter (det \u00e4r h\u00e4r du inte ska smaka p\u00e5 smeten, f\u00f6r d\u00e5 blir det mycket f\u00e4rre kakor \u2026). Klicka ut smeten med matskedar p\u00e5 bakpl\u00e5tspapper eller rulla bollar stora som vanliga chokladbollar och tryck till dem lite p\u00e5 pl\u00e5ten.
